Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort, day 9, 050425

Today started off with steak and eggs in La Plume. The French restaurant is actually really good at a la carte breakfasts. The steak was a well-seasoned medium cooked sirloin, and I had two fried eggs (over easy of course), and hash browns. JC fancied a mimosa as well, so we had that too.

Our usual routine came into play, with us going back to change into beachwear and also putting on plenty of factor 50 sun cream.

This sunscreen has been brilliant and I haven’t burned at all. Given my past history with basal cell carcinoma, I can’t be too careful.

So we went down to the beach to our usual spot. It wasn’t long before Dominique brought us the cocktail of the day, Fuzzy Cosmo. We had a chat and he said that he’d bring us some lunch later on. I’d already thought that I needed a salad, so requested a chicken Caesar salad.

We just enjoyed the morning, with the beautiful weather as usual. We dipped in the water when we got too hot. Bliss.

Dominique arrived as planned at 1pm, with the most amazing chicken Caesar salad. It was just what I needed after a big breakfast. I enjoyed it so much I could have eaten it again.

We enjoyed the afternoon until 3pm, when we went to the gym. I ran for 30 minutes so felt well chuffed with myself. After that we changed and went to the pool to cool down. Late afternoon is a good time to go as a lot of people have left for the day, so it’s always easy to get sun-beds (we could always go back to our reserved beds on the beach too, if we wanted).

So you get the routine, we are busy not doing much but I do feel as if I’ve toned up by doing that bit of exercise most days. It’s all good training for the London 10k that I will be running in July.

Our evening meal was booked at Soy, and Logesh arrived just before 7pm to escort us to the restaurant. This is one of the places where bookings are not essential and we were seated straight away.

It was a good menu for a sushi bar, with the usual sushi rolls, tataki, chicken kara age, pancake rolls. All was prepared and presented beautifully and tasted great.

After that, JC wanted to go to the Piano Bar so I agreed. It was quiet when we got there, so it was easy to find a seat round the big bar. It soon got busy but the staff were quick at preparing some great cocktails. However, I wasn’t really sure if one of the bar staff was on something. He was behaving a bit oddly and decided to make everyone a drink. Whatever it was it didn’t taste great so I left it. JC drank his and mine, plus another drink that we were offered later on. It looked like kitchen cleaner so I erred on the side of caution.

I had another cocktail, which is the one pictured at the top of the post. That was my one of only two drinks that I had. In the end, JC was given a bottle of water and that was a timely end to our visit to the Piano Bar. The barmaid knew he’d had enough…
