Today was the day when I thought I’d really overdone it with the cocktails from the night before, in the Piano Bar. It’s great having an all inclusive deal, but it creates opportunities and situations that I’d rather not be in. I still felt squiffy when I got up and wished I hadn’t overindulged. Gluttony, one of the seven deadly sins, had risen with a vengeance.
We went down for breakfast and I just ate loads of fruit and salads, and just drank water. Afterwards we got ready for the beach. Logesh had reserved our sun beds for us, in the quieter part of the beach again. I sat in the sun, it was mid-twenties Celsius. A quick dip in the water soon livened me up.
At lunchtime, Ronnie, one of the bar staff, brought us a cocktail to try. It was called a “Millionaire”. It contained vodka with fruit juices and looked as green as I’d felt when I woke up. It was quite refreshing and weak in the alcohol department so was a nice easy drink. The hair of the dog had worked; I was me again.

Logesh also came down to ask us what we would like for lunch. He suggested pizza and said he would sort the ordering out for us. He even said he’d bring the pizza down to the beach for us.
We enjoyed the pizza and had a relaxing afternoon, and then I decided to go to the gym again. My legs were ok from my 5 km run the day before. I decided I’d do a little bit of a workout, so did 2 km on the running machine, 0.5 km on the cross trainer, then 5 km on the bike. I was sweating like a good’un, so went to get changed for the pool. This was nothing more than somewhere to cool down after the gym. It was nice listening to a guy playing a steel drum whilst we were there.
Our evening meal was booked for us at the French restaurant, La Plume. Dominique messaged us to say he would collect us just before our booked time of 7pm. He was there as expected and took us there.
He was excited to tell us that a window seat had just become available, so the table was set up for us. He showed us to the table and told us a few recommendations before leaving. It was a nicely decorated room, a bit art deco in style, with a lovely big curved window that looked out over the main pool and facing the Balmoral Club. Jessie, our server, brought us chilled water and asked us if we’d like some wine. We ordered and off Jessie went to sort the wine whilst we looked over the menu.
I decided to opt for French onion soup, followed by salmon for main. Jessie also wanted us to choose dessert and I went for chocolate tart, which was her recommendation. The French onion soup came which was ok. There wasn’t much soup as it was covered with a large layer of bread topped with cheese. The bread had soaked up quite a bit of the soup. I ate what I could and left some of the topping so I wasn’t full, and left some space for what was to come.

The mains took quite a long time to arrive. JC had ordered bouillabaisse, which looked fine. As I was given my dish, I thought the waiter said “here’s your duck”. It took me a few seconds to register what he’d said, and when I questioned him he said that it was duck. It was hard to tell as it was served covered in piped mashed potatoes so could have been anything. I don’t eat duck and told him I’d ordered salmon, so he whisked both plates away with an apology. Our mains finally arrived some 15 minutes later. It looked like the bouillabaisse had been kept warm. My salmon was ok however I realised that it wasn’t quite cooked after I’d eaten a few mouthfuls. The manager came up to ask if everything was ok. I showed her the uncooked salmon and she asked if I’d like anything else. It was at this point that I decided that I wasn’t so hungry anymore, so declined. I guess that they’d rushed the mains, after getting it wrong initially, so we weren’t kept waiting.
The dessert was ok, a small chocolate tart that was probably the best part of the meal, but just. I was really surprised that this place didn’t meet expectations but our server didn’t write our order down and blamed the fact that our mains had been sent to another table. Oh well, we just won’t return.
We decided to go next door to the bar where we had a couple of cocktails. There was a corridor adjacent to the bar where we spotted some Beatles memorabilia that the hotel had acquired. If you haven’t read day 2 of our visit, The Beatles stayed at Sandals when they were filming “Help”.
We had a nice chilled out time at the end of our evening. However, it’s the first time I’ve still felt hungry after eating a three course meal….
