We had a continental breakfast in the hotel before heading out for our final beach walk along South Beach.
We headed towards the north end and carried on until we met the junction of Collins Avenue.
I love Collins Avenue as it has many historical buildings, including art deco hotels that still retain their original features. Collins Avenue also has lots of cool boutiques and eateries. It’s cheaper to eat here than on Ocean Drive.

Back on Ocean Drive, it was getting very lively, and there were lots of people gathering round outside The Palace. This is in the LGBTQ+ area and is known as THE gay bar. There were balloons around the front doors with the numbers 35 as balloons too, I thought it must be someone’s birthday, but it was a celebration of 35 years of The Palace being open.
We witnessed the build up to the drag queens putting on a show. It was a brilliant sight to see and they all got the audience going. Most of them were handed dollar notes by the audience, so they must make plenty of money doing their job.

As The Palace was full of people, it was fairly quiet in most other restaurants. It didn’t take long for us to get served a nice healthy salad at The Social, before we got our Uber to the airport.
We arrived early and it was annoying to find out that our flight was delayed by 90 minutes. Still, we went to the Flagship Lounge for a chill out in the peace and quiet.
Our flight took roughly 8 hours and I managed to sleep ok once we’d eaten our supper. We landed at 730 am this morning and are now on our way home. It’s chilly, compared to the average 28 degree heat of Florida, but not as bad as expected.
I hope you’ve enjoyed following this journey of ours. We’ve had an amazing time in the Sunshine State.
