So, Miami, what can I say? Hotel Breakwater, at 940 Ocean Drive, is in the middle of the wonderfully vibrant South Beach, a place full of people out for a good time.

After a fiasco at the airport with a pre-booked taxi, we arrived in SoBe using an airport taxi. Once checked in we headed out for a walk and to the beach. It’s beautiful white sanded beach was still busy at 5pm, even when the daylight was fading.
We then walked down Ocean Drive, which was really busy. People were wandering about in bikinis or beach wear, some were heading out for the night. Others were cruising, posing in their customised cars.
We found CJ’s Crab Shack, and decided to eat there. The menu was predominantly seafood, and I took a fancy to the crab cakes with Parmesan corn on the cob. This was served with a rather delicious rum punch. I’ve never been served crab cakes in the shell before but they were amazing. The soft shell crab topped with some type of crumb was absolutely divine.
Once we’d eaten we then went exploring further down Ocean Drive. This is in the heart of the Historical Art Deco area of South Beach, so we saw many interesting buildings to photograph. There were so many places to eat and drink, we were spoilt for choice. We had margaritas and caipirinha cocktails at Ocean’s Ten, on the corner of Ocean Drive and 10th Avenue. There was a band called Lalinea Miami, playing covers of songs with a Cuban twist.
Our next place of interest was Clevelander, a hotel that has its own outdoor area with bars and a dance floor and DJ. This place was buzzing with Saturday night revellers, enjoying the dancers perform on a high stage whilst enjoying (expensive) cocktails.
We went back to the hotel where a private event was taking place at the Havana 1957 restaurant but we managed to see some of it. There were Cuban singers as well as dancers, who even got me up to dance!! It looked like it had bern a great night’s entertainment.

Having been up 24 hours to get into the USA time zone, we thought it best to head to bed after that. The cocktails had finally taken their toll.
